Eden took her first school photos. She is so serious in them -- it makes me laugh.

Funny Pictures from Thanksgiving Day
Eden had a lot of fun with Hud over the holiday. She loves saying his name and tries to give him hugs. Here she is pushing Hud around in a baby stroller.

Cruising with Grant and Ava
Over Thanksgiving, Eden reenacted an episode of Silver Spoons with Grant and Ava. She looked entirely too comfortable cruising around with them in their play cars. It made me have a scary flash forward to about ten years from now when Ava will be driving a real car, and Eden will undoubtedly ask to go along with her.

One year update
Eden is a big toddler now. It happened so quickly. Not too long ago, she was a little baby crawling around on the floor. Now, she's this little person who is running around and talking!
At her one year doctor check up, she weighed in at 21 lbs 15 oz, which is only in the 65% for her height. Up until now, she was consistently in the 90% range on weight. She lost a lot of the baby fat that was so abundant during the first 9 months of her life. On height, Eden measured 30 inches. One thing that hasn't changed is that ginormous head of hers. It's a whopping 19 inches, which is in the 95%. The girl has a lot of brain to hold!
I am beginning to think that she does have some brain in there. I am totally amazed by Eden's ability to pick up words and concepts. She is able to say at least 25-30 words now, and she knows the meaning to many more. I think that she picks up a new word each day now. Her favorite words are baby (pronounced bay-bee) and doggie.
She also has a lot of personality and a funny sense of humor. She loves to laugh and smile, and you can tell that she has a mischievous streak to her.
Here are some additional stats on Eden (format taken from Carter's blog):
Favorite food: "Cheese!!" This is what she says every time she sees it. Of course, she is a Peterson girl after all. She also loves yogurt.
Least favorite food: Tofu and carrots
Favorite activity: Anything involving Rula (throwing food on the ground for her, or banging on the door and yelling to get her attention)
Favorite TV show: I'm happy to say that she is really not that interested in TV. However, she LOVES Elmo.
Funniest trick: Variations of peek-a-boo. She likes to go out of sight and wait for you to look for her. She laughs and laughs when you come out to find her.
Spoken words: Too many to list. Words from this week are: owl, Rula, milk, Mammy (a.k.a Tammy), hippo (pronounced appo). She is good with words that begin with "b".
Recent achievements:
-Can correctly point out most members of her extended family on a photo (not so good with her uncles yet), and can actually flip to the photos (in her photo book) if I ask her where certain people are
-Has started to learn colors
-Knows lots of animals and can correctly point to them (pig, giraffe, dog, cat, sheep, fish, chicken, bunny, horsie, turtle). Of these, she can say doggie, kitty (pronounced titty), sheep (pronounced shee), fish, bear, and turtle.
-Knows her body parts and can correctly point to them: head, mouth, ears, eyes, nose, teeth, tongue, belly, bellybutton, hands, feet, legs. Of these, she can say mouth (pronounced mou), eyes, nose (pronounced no), teeth (pronounced tee), and belly (pronounced beh).
-Says the following words in Spanish: arbol, leche, mas, and guapo.

Love of Books
Eden loves her books. She says "book" every time that she sees them, although she can't quite pronounce the "k" at the end. Her favorites are "Where is Baby's Belly Button?" and "Baby Galileo Sees the Stars." She asks us to read them to her over and over again.

First Toothbrush
I went to the dentist and got Eden her very first toothbrush. I had been trying to brush her teeth and gums with this little brush that you put on your finger, but she hated it and would rarely let me put it in her mouth. My dentist suggested giving her a toothbrush to play with so that she gets used to seeing it and holding it. So I sat Eden on top of the counter and showed her how to brush her teeth while I brushed mine. At first, she started to brush her hair with it because that is the only way she knows how to use a brush. After she figured out it was for her teeth, she loved it! In fact, she loved it so much that she wouldn't put the brush down and kept walking around the house with it and chewing on it. I don't know how well she's brushing her teeth, but at least it's in there.

Birthday Present
Nana and Papa gave Eden a baby grand piano for her birthday. She immediately started jamming out on it and saying "hi" into the microphone. I think that we have a future musician on our hands.
Trick or Treat
We took Eden trick-or-treating for her first Halloween. She loved it. I think that she totally understood the concept of Halloween because she carried her bag the entire time and held it out so that our neighbors could put treats in it. As heavy as her bag became, she never dropped it or put it down.
Eden's Birthday Party
We had a very fun birthday party for Eden on Saturday, the day after her birthday. In reality, it was really a party for us since we were the ones who made it through the last year. Several of our friends and their kids came over to celebrate. As luck would have it, Eden took the longest nap of her life and ended up sleeping through half of her party! She had a good time, but didn't know how to react to all of the attention.

Halloween Parade
Later in the day (on Eden's birthday), they had a Halloween costume parade at her school. Our little chicken walked the parade loop with all the other kids, but she mostly wanted her mama to hold her and walk with her.

Eden's Birthday
We had a 2-day birthday celebration for Eden over the weekend. It all started on Friday with a small birthday party at Eden's school. We were asked to bring pureed yams for the kids instead of cupcakes (yuck!). None of the kids ate them except for one -- apparently the only kid who likes yams. Eden didn't really know what was going on, but it was fun to dress her up for school and to celebrate with the other kiddies.
